If you’re maybe…

So the car wouldn’t start this morning, which meant that instead of kicking off my week with three injections like I normally do, I got to start it with forty-five minutes of arguing with the car, peppered with brief phone calls to the dealership, and then a quick trip to the dealership (which is half a mile away, all downhill, with one stop sign between here and there) after Michael put the damn thing in neutral and then worked some magic.

Two distinct problems, $250, done before lunch. At the dealership. On an out-of-warranty GM vehicle.

I’ve been waiting all day for the other shoe to drop.

New words: 1001
Reason for stopping: quota, end of scene
Sustenance: Raspberry tea, NO Cadbury’s
Exercise: None today. Still feeling the effects of the elliptical yesterday. Ow.
Darling du jour: The last line of the book, which I will not spoil here on the off chance that I keep it this way.
Mean things: Making your brother go wait in the car.
Time wasters: Other than turning my sidebar into a politblog? John Gruber’s iPhone coverage keeps me giggling.

In other news: In the course of outlining this novel, I’ve discovered that I’ve given my villain(s) three different, conflicting justifications for their evil deeds. I should probably start thinking about how to fix that.

Also,

If you’re maybe noticing that you’re older than you used to be, and are feeling sad/angry/confused/worried/frustrated that you haven’t accomplished as much as you/other people in your present or past/annoyingly critical voices inside your head think you should have, and if you’re maybe feeling something like “I’m not a real grownup like everyone else,” and if you’re maybe also feeling sad/angry/confused/worried/frustrated that your body isn’t working the way it used to, and you’re maybe thinking, “if that’s true then how am I going to DO all those accomplishments that I/other people/voices in my head think I ought or want to do?”, and maybe you’re also wondering how are you going to dig out from under the accumulation of habit and procrastination and self-doubt to some sense of satisfaction in your life again, then post this same sentence in your journal.
