Sundry

The old PowerBook having been pronounced not worth fixing by a genuine Apple Genius Bar employee over the weekend — remind me to tell you sometime about the “authorized reseller” that does repairs locally — and no new laptops having been announced at the Expo this morning, we took deep breaths and put two MacBook Pros on the Amex a few minutes ago. The credit card is now off in a corner, twitching quietly and whimpering now and then.

On the up side, I’ll actually be able to get work done at home now. What a concept.

Speaking of the Expo, that theory of mine? Wasn’t expecting it to arrive, y’know, this week. Granted, I had expected something a wee bit larger with a stylus or something, but… hell. The phone is dead sexy. I’ll have two, please, and I’ll put up with the small screen. Unless… hmm. I wonder if it’ll work with the goggles? Can I live with looking like Geordi? Can my credit card take another hit?

… the answer is decidedly no.

I’m working on several big ideas for the business, and I have some more code to give away later this week. Watch the skies.

At the moment, it’s time for a dose of Dorothy Sayers before bed. I’m reading the Peter Wimsey series this week; so far I’ve been utterly delighted by everything except The Five Red Herrings. Starting The Nine Tailors tonight, and rubbing my hands in anticipation because I know Gaudy Night and Busman’s Honeymoon will be the real treats. I have all the short stories left to go, too. That Half Price after-Christmas sale was good to me.
