Did everyone’s holidays suck this much, or is it just us?

Actually, things were fine through Christmas day; normal holiday stuff, visiting family, etc. My grandmother wasn’t doing so well, but that was to be expected.

Then Michael’s younger brother had a skiing accident and spent a week in ICU with a head injury. Michael and his dad went up there to see him and to help our sister-in-law sort out paperwork. (Kids, if you keep separate bank accounts when you get married, just go ahead and give each other power of attorney, would you? so your spouse can pay bills when something goes wrong.) Anyway, he’s in rehab now, doing much better by all accounts and being driven crazy by the nurses. I gather being pushed around in a wheelchair and being asked every day “What day is it? What’s your name?” is a frustrating experience.

Friday, Michael and his dad started driving back from Wyoming.

Early Saturday morning, my grandmother passed away.

Yesterday was my birthday, which I really didn’t feel like celebrating.

Tonight after work we’ll throw some things in the half-unpacked suitcase and head to San Antonio for the service.

If someone wouldn’t mind issuing a factory recall on 2006, I’d appreciate it.
